Roseland 57 – Stithians 7

Saturday afternoon saw Stithians make the short trip to Philleigh for another fixture in the Tribute Cornwall League.

This match pitted Roseland (9th) versus Stithians (8th) in a potentially season defining game. The winner had the chance to possibly secure Cornwall One rugby after Christmas. Stithians held the upper hand by being a point above Roseland.

Saturday afternoon brought a welcome return of league rugby following a fortnight of no rugby due to a Walk Over and a Bye week. Roseland welcomed St Agnes to Philleigh for what was hoping to be a close fought encounter.

Saturday afternoon saw perfect rugby conditions with both the weather and the condition on the pitch, special thanks to Ben Taylor and Shaun Eamers on the pitch. It was also Roselands Ladies and Family Day with plenty of wives,girlfriend and children on the sidelines.

Roseland Battle Hard

Roseland 3 – Liskard-Looe 63

On Saturday afternoon Roseland welcomed Liskard Looe to Philleigh for the first home game of the 2017/18 season.

Roseland had a long list of players unavailable via injury and other commitments. Nearly as many were unavailable as were available. The squad of players that took to the field put in a 110% shift though and unfortunately the score line didn’t really do the players justice.

Last Gasp Try Denies Roseland Famous Win

Saturday afternoon saw the return of junior rugby to the playing fields of Cornwall. Roselands first task was a trip to the Newquay Sports Centre to play last seasons Cornwall One Runners Up Newquay. The format for this season was the same as last year with all the teams playing each other once before splitting into Cornwall One and Two after Christmas.

Lions 2017

The British and Irish Lions are in New Zealand with one of the strongest squads ever assembled.

To watch all the Saturday morning fixtures (Crusaders, Maori All Blacks, and the 3 tests) Portscatho Harbour Club will be showing the games on the big screen.

Each game is an 8:30am kick off.

On Easter Saturday Roseland travelled to Helston’s King George V playing fields to face Helston in the first fixture of their round robin cup competition which also features St Agnes.

On Saturday Roseland entertained local rivals St Agnes at Philleigh for the penultimate league game of the 2016/17 season. Needing a win to lift them off the bottom of the table Roseland duly responded on their inaugural “Family Day”.

Roseland fight back in Vain

On Saturday afternoon in glorious weather Roseland traveled to Lux Park to take on top three side Liskard.
Following last weeks unfortunate and disappointing Walk Over conceded to league leaders Hayle, Roseland were determined to put in a good performance and bounce back from last week. They were also hoping to go to Plymouth on a “team night out” with a solid performance and result under their belt.

Roseland v Hayle – CANCELLED

This weekends Tribute Cornwall One fixture at home versus league leaders Hayle has unfortunately had to be cancelled.

Roseland unfortunately have been heavily hit with unavailability and a catalogue of injuries this week.

The cancellation means Hayle are awarded the full 5 match points.

Roselands next scheduled fixture is now on 25th March away to second placed Liskard at Lux Park. This will be the last of the 2:30 kick offs.
