Roseland 25 – Stithians 7

A fantastic start to the year for Roseland yesterday, giving us a much needed bonus point victory.

We started the match up hill and into a pretty fierce wind – and were ahead at half time. Downhill and with the wind behind us the day just got better.

In total we scored 5 tries – on a day of weather for the forwards, Nathan Chapman got himself a hat trick. Mike Berridge (wing) scored his first Roseland try on just his first 3rd game for us, getting to the ball just before Nathan from a kick by Tom Day which nicely set it all up. And the other try was scored by Tom himself.

The whole team put in a superb performance, especially considering several players are battling that nasty flu that’s going around. We can’t wait to see what happens at Penryn against Camborne School of Mines on Saturday.

In other news – huge thanks from everyone at the club to Jade Taylor for taking Rhys to A&E after his concussion. Good news is that Rhys is back home, but off the booze and rugby for the next month.

I didn’t take many photos this week as the rugby was too interesting to be wielding a camera! All those I did take are uploading to flickr right now. David (the really good photographer!) was there too – so as soon as I get his pics I’ll load them as well – should be some good ones of the tries…
