Roseland welcomed pre-season league title favourites Bodmin to Philleigh on a dry but cloudy Saturday afternoon.  With a fresh crosswind and on a sticky pitch, this encounter was always going to be a tough challenge for the home side as proved to be the case in the opening period.

After three consecutive wins Roseland had good reason for optimism ahead of the final league game of the season against Bodmin. After so many months of extreme weather all concerned were grateful for an overdue return to some good playing and spectating conditions.

Roseland Battle in the Mud

On yet another wet and windy afternoon Roseland travelled to Bodmin for their third league game.
Once again Roseland had been forced into some last minute changes to the side. The other surprise awaiting Roseland was that Bodmin’s main pitch was deemed unsafe for play so the match was moved to Bodmin’s second pitch.

Second placed Bodmin arrived at Philleigh on Saturday afternoon having not played at Roseland for several seasons following their successful stint in the Cornwall and Devon League however they arrived on Saturday hopeful of another 5 point win and despite Roseland resilience they came away the victors.

A few little mistakes cost us dear, but there were some great plays from the team, and a couple of well executed tries.

League pressure is now off until January – the next few games are friendlies as we run into Christmas.

Another frustrating score line. It was a bit like watching England cAndy Robinson era – strong attacks that never quite made it over the line, and errors/unfortunate moments leading to some very cheap tries for Bodmin.
