Roseland Battle Hard

Roseland 3 – Liskard-Looe 63

On Saturday afternoon Roseland welcomed Liskard Looe to Philleigh for the first home game of the 2017/18 season.

Roseland had a long list of players unavailable via injury and other commitments. Nearly as many were unavailable as were available. The squad of players that took to the field put in a 110% shift though and unfortunately the score line didn’t really do the players justice.

The opening quarter was a fairly even affair despite Liskard playing with the slope and the breeze. Roseland showed promising glimpses with ball in hand and the pack started to dominate at scrum time. Liskard eventually opened the scoring with a penalty kick, a sign of respect to Roseland that Roseland were defending stoutly.
Roseland slotted a penalty of their own thanks to fly half Matt Eddy.
Unfortunately this was as close as Roseland would get as Liskard ended the half 32-3 ahead.

The second half continued in much the same vain as the first half with Roseland battling valiantly but not getting the rewards. Liskard eventually started to stretch their legs and show they are a senior side in a Junior league by ending the game 63-3.

After the game Roseland made a very special presentation to life member and club stalwart Chris Thomas who in August turned 70. He was presented with a card and a commemorative tankard by members of the club.

Chris and Head Coach Andy Day are set to embark on their 1ssac Tour on 23rd September. Details of how to follow the pair will be available via the club website or Facebook page.
