After three consecutive wins Roseland had good reason for optimism ahead of the final league game of the season against Bodmin. After so many months of extreme weather all concerned were grateful for an overdue return to some good playing and spectating conditions.

Roseland complete “double” over Park…..

Roseland leapfrogged Illogan Park into fifth position in the league following last Saturday’s clash at Philleigh in a wholehearted contest played in appalling conditions. Steady rain on an already saturated pitch together with a cold albeit relatively gentle north easterly breeze tested both players and spectators alike.

End of season fixtures updates

There’s a few changes to the end of season fixtures schedule (all noted on the fixture list)

The new list is as follows:

  • 31st March – St Agnes – Away – League
  • 7th April – Camborne School of Mines – Home – League
  • 14th April – rearranged – Bodmin – Home – League
  • 7th May – Cup Semi Final
  • 2nd June – Cup Final

The Cup draw will be made on 29th April (so long as all league fixtures have been completed).

 

 

Early kick off tomorrow!

Apologies for the late notice, but it’s been unavoidable.

Tomorrow’s home game will kick off at 12.30pm – so as not to clash with the England 6 Nations game.

Bodmin Home Game Postponed

The CRFU have cancelled all games this weekend, to avoid the dangers of travelling in the current conditions.

We’ll let you know as soon as our game is rearranged.

On Saturday afternoon all the rugby talk was of the impending clash between England and Wales at Twickenham but their were far more pressing matters at hand before that trivial clash. The big game on Saturday was Roseland versus Illogan Park at Illogan.

Veor hold off Roseland Challenge

On Saturday Roseland travelled to play fourth placed Veor. Roseland had been unfortunate enough to play the top 4 sides on consecutive weekends. However unperturbed by this Roseland travelled with confidence despite missing several regular starters.

Roseland Battle Valiantly

Roseland 10 – Newquay Hornets 20

Roseland welcomed Newquay Hornets to Philleigh last Saturday with the home side determined to avenge defeat following a close encounter at Newquay back in September. This was the third of a particularly tough run of fixtures with Roseland determined to return to winning ways. Although the pitch was inevitably heavy and energy sapping, the rain at least relented in time for kick-off.

Roseland Battle in the Mud

On yet another wet and windy afternoon Roseland travelled to Bodmin for their third league game.
Once again Roseland had been forced into some last minute changes to the side. The other surprise awaiting Roseland was that Bodmin’s main pitch was deemed unsafe for play so the match was moved to Bodmin’s second pitch.

Roseland Come Unstuck in the Mud

Roseland 0 – Liskard-Looe 44

Saturday saw Roseland entertain league leaders Liskard-Looe at Philleigh.
The match was played in some of the worst conditions seen for a long time.
The pitch held up remarkably well though given the amount of rain that has fallen recently.
At the end of the game all the players trudged off the pitch four stone heavier than the start with the extra mud and water in their kit.
